::Story Jar made from recycled kitchen jars:: These are known sometimes by other names: "Fairy Jars" "Inspiration Jars: and so on. After the contents of the jar is emptied, wash it & dry. If you want a "peep hole" in the front, cut peel-n-stick shelf paper the desired shape & place it where you want it & paint the jar. Or,you can make a "freehand" space that you don't paint (or paper, mosaic) just so you can see inside of it... Find things that are similar to put inside & out. Mine have a variety of items both new & used but are thematic : FOREST. beads charms twigs decorations saved from a bakery item a mini handcrafted cardboard box a mini corked bottle of glitter (fairy dust) part of a seasonal deco taken apart & re-glittered cardboard scrap leaves covered with green candy wrapper foil craft punches for a lizard, frog, flowers, leaves, (I will glue on a little bird or 2 when I locate that craft punch) leaves cut from old green clothing & also from a green canvas tent! glow-in-the-dark foam stars inside & out & more!
This craft is a LOT of fun & would make a great gift !
some pics of JAR #3
Jar #3 was also a lot of fun. Maybe TOO much fun for an "old lady" ;) I used several peel n stick paper cut out leaves as well as hole punched paper flowers, lizards,& frog, fun furry yarn a couple of charms & beads & a stone made into a jewelry charm. The lid is partially covered with peel n stick paper & the edge of the lid is Mardi Gras beads.I placed them around the lid & cut off what was needed to go all the way around the lid. There was a small gap so the ends didn't come together,I hid that with paper hole punch flowers. Some of the centers of the flowers have a drop of silver glitter glue. Every other flat bead on the lid side has silver glitter glue.(this pic was snapped before the every other bead had silver glitter glue)
the pic below shows the use of wallpaper border (from the Dollar Gen Store) as a background. You can see the picket fence on the right side of the pic & also you can see the roses arbor - sorry the pics aren't clearer...
see the glitter on the lid edging beads ?!
Maybe I STARTED glittering every other bead but it looks like each one got it ! hmmm ooook ...
wallpaper flowers - i LOVE craft punches !
It's a little difficult to see but there are 3 sizes of wallpaper flowers stacked & a nice little drop of silver glitter glue in the center.Behind the flower are 3 green recycled tent canvas leaves. To the right of that are 4 peel n stick leaves behind a paper craft punch flower with a silver glitter glue center. To the left in the front of the jar you can see a smaller size canvas leaf curled out a little - on some of those I green glitter glued some veins in the leaves. Fun!
the "charm" on the left is an old earring. I really love the lizards & I love using up scrap wallpaper I used in other projects to make them ! The stone charm was in a box I had stashed & the foam glow in the dark stars I bought. The blue paper flower is made from some junk mail I had & is 2 sizes stacked. The leaf is peel n stick
