I am reallllly into this kitchen gardening THING below are pics of my latest endeavor -- I am particurally fond of the one with the snowy winter background :it is a batch of seeds i wanted to give a chance to - that the date on the package stated were EXPIRED but these are growing !
HOW-TO: tear off 2 times the amount of clear plastic wrap you want (1/2 will be flipped over to cover the sprouts) lay the plastic on a tray or out on a table (i used a clean styrofoam meat tray) space out the sprouts with the tiny leaves at the top & moisten. Fold the remaining part of the plastic wrap over & connect at the top & sides to hold the water in. I started mine in dryer lint but you might have good results starting with seeds I can't think of any reason why not... I just placed a pretty big order of organic seeds last night so I am more than ready to begin a more healthy eating path! Let me know if any of you got in the least bit excited as I did to get some greenery going indoors over such a horribly cold time of the year! I don't leave my plastic wrapped sprouts in the window long I hang them on the side of a terrarium I have in the front room that sits in the window. I don't know if they can take this cold or not & not willing to find out the hard way - even though my seeds were expired - they are still precious to me ! Next connect the 2 ends so you have a hoop.(I used sewing thread but ribbon also could be used or other) next stretch the netting or gauze across the top of the bottle where you removed the bottle top (I also removed the lable from the side of the bottle) & then place the hoop of plastic over that to hold the net in place as it is stiched to the hoop. i have made mine in a very short time today & already have something to sprout in it. there are the commercial jar lids available but I wanted to use what I have already! <http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf13952496.tip.html> Title: Growing Your Own Sprouts
